BeakCheck API

One key, three calls: the DVLA record, the full DVSA MOT history with mileage and advisories, and the published Stage 1 and Stage 2 remap figures for the exact engine. JSON over HTTPS, no SDK needed. Built for garage management systems, tuners' booking forms and dealer stock tools.

Get a key

A trial key gives 50 calls a month, free, no card. It arrives by email within a minute.

Authentication

Send the key as a bearer token on every request. Keys are stored hashed; if you lose one, reply to the key email and we rotate it.

Endpoints

GET /api/v1/vehicle?reg=

The DVLA record: make, colour, fuel, engine capacity, CO2, year of manufacture, tax status and due date, MOT status and expiry, first registration, Euro status where held, export marker. One call.

GET /api/v1/mot-history?reg=

Every MOT test since 2005: date, result, odometer reading, expiry, defects by category (dangerous, major, minor) and advisories, plus the model name DVSA holds. One call.

GET /api/v1/remap?reg= or ?q=golf 2.0 tdi 2015

Matches the registration to one of 2,155 engines and returns stock, Stage 1 and Stage 2 bhp and Nm, the hardware each stage needs, a risk score out of 10 with the reasons, and a quote link. With q it returns up to ten text matches. One call (by registration it also fetches the two records above, counted once).

Limits and errors

RATE_LIMITED	429	More than 60 requests in a minute
QUOTA	429	Monthly calls used; `X-RateLimit-Remaining` is sent on every response
UPSTREAM	502	DVLA or DVSA did not answer; retry with backoff

Plans

Monthly plans for garages, tuners and dealers (Garage: 2,000 calls, Tuner: 10,000 calls) are priced on request while the API is in its first months. Email support@beakcheck.com with your expected volume.

Terms

Data is sourced live from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT history service and is for your own business use: no reselling the raw feed, no bulk harvesting, and registration numbers are personal data so handle them under UK GDPR. Remap figures are published results for that engine and are a guide, not a promise. The usual terms and privacy policy apply.
